A term to describe a range of disabilities that may affect people whose mothers drank alcohol while they were pregnant. It is the leading cause of developmental disabilities among Canadians. It is not known how much alcohol it takes to cause damage. There is no safe amount or safe time to use alcohol when a woman is pregnant.
